Huawei invests EUR 200 million in Serbian railway

The railway company Zeleznice Srbije (ZS) signed on Wednesday an agreement with the Chinese company Huawei on modernizing its telecommunications, with the total value of the investment standing at around EUR 200 million.

ZS General Director Dragoljub Simonovic said after the signing a commercial contract will be signed by 2018 on investing EUR 78 million to build the optical infrastructure along the railway Corridor 10, Corridor 11 and the Belgrade railway node. The work could begin in October or November this year, he noted. He signed the agreement with Huawei Director for Serbia Jack Wei.

A contract on the delivery of 26 or 27 new Russian trains, bought from a Russian loan of USD 100 million, will probably be signed in August, Simonovic stated.
