Skopje Airport, Best Small Airport in Europe for 2012

In the category of up to 2 million passengers per annum, Skopje Alexander the Great Airport was awarded Best Airport in Europe by Airport Council International (ACI) based on the passenger answers to the airport service quality survey forms collected in 2012.

TAV Macedonia held a press conference to announce that Skopje Airport has been awarded ACI’s ASQ award for best airport in Europe for 2012 thanks to the high quality of services rendered to its passengers.

Since 2006, Airports Council International has been awarding the ASQ Awards which recognize and reward the best airports in the world based on ACI's ASQ passenger satisfaction survey and represent an opportunity to celebrate the commitment of airports worldwide to continually improve the passenger experience. Over 275 airports participate in the competition each year.

“We, as TAV Airports, are delighted to receive this prestigious award related to Skopje Airport, which was renovated and started to render services in a very short time based on our know-how. Accordingly, we are very happy to receive this award as a result of the impressions and experience of our guests who traveled through many airports in Europe. I would like to express my gratitude to all our stakeholders, especially to the Ministry of Transport and Communications for all mutual efforts that contributed to reach this success” stated TAV Airports Holding COO Murat Örnekol.

During the announcement of the awards in Montreal, ACI World Director General Angela Gittens stated, “This an exciting time for airports. Airports that deliver superior customer service stand apart from the competition and superior customer service remains one of the most important differentiators in the increasingly competitive airport industry. I am equally excited to see other airports rank for the very first time this year, which stands to prove that it is never too late to adopt a winning customer service orientation to which the ASQ programme is fundamental”.

ASQ Awards are presented in four categories that include: Best Airport by Region, Best Airport by Region (Fewer than 2 million Passengers per Year), Best Airport by Size, and Best Improvement.
