Henkel opens third factory in Romania


Germany’s Henkel consumer goods manufacturer began production at its third Romanian plant, in Neamt Co., this month, a nearly EUR 10 M investment, and estimates its local adhesives division will see sales go up 10 pc this year, Mediafax reports. The new factory located in the town of Roznov, a RON 45 M investment made possible by EU co-financing via SOP IEE, with a non-redeemable funding cap May 2011- April 2013.

The German group owns two more adhesives factories in Romania, at Pantelimon and Campia Turzii, opened in 2000 and 2007 respectively, with Henkel investments in Romania exceeding 45 M euro.Henkel Romania product portfolio also includes cosmetics an detergents, and the company turnover rose 12 pc last year, to RON 607 M. The adhesives sales rose 10 pc this year, Andrei Dumitrescu, sales & marketing manager Adhesives Division, Henkel Romania, told a press conference. However, he would not say what is the adhesives sales value or the revenue rate generated by the division to the company’s overall turnover.
The adhesives division sets out to launch, among others, new products, investments in workforce training and development of all-channel distribution, Dumitrescu said.
